German Philipp Kohlschreiber knocked out second seed Nicolas Almagro to move into the semifinals of the 2012 Heineken Open.

The Spaniard took an early lead in the first set tiebreak, only to see the German power back to take it 7-6 (5). Almagro held serve much easier than his opponent, never facing a  break point until he was serving to stay in the match at 4-5 in the second set. The world #10 then double faulted down match point to give the German the win 7-6 (5) 6-4.

Kohlschreiber was very happy with his performance. "I raised my level again today. I thought it was a quality match by both of us." The German said he was particularly happy with his timing and aggressiveness.

2012 marks the eighth time the German has played in the Heineken Open, and he'll be hoping to make the final for the first time since winning the title in 2008. He'll face the winner of Olivier Rochus and Benoit Paire for a spot in the final.
