Top seed David Ferrer had to come back from 3-1 down in the third set against Colombian Alejandro Falla in order to move to the semifinals of the 2012 Heineken Open.

The Spaniard was broken five times in the match but managed to overcome Falla to advance 6-4 4-6 6-3.

The quarterfinal match was delayed until Friday morning after rain cancelled play last night. Ferrer will now face his compatriot Fernando Verdasco, who had to battle hard in his match with Guillermo Garcia-Lopez to advance to the semifinals.

The third-seeded Verdasco led 3-1 when the match resumed this morning, and he had a number of set points before finally breaking Garcia-Lopez to take the first set 7-5. The second set went with serve as Verdasco led 5-4 and then broke his good friend Garcia-Lopez to advance to the semifinals 7-5 6-4.

The men's semifinal between Olivier Rochus and Philipp Kohlschreiber will be played later today, followed by Ferrer and Verdasco on centre court.
