NO. 2 FERRER AND NO. 5 ANCIC MOVE INTO QUARTERFINALS

Second seeded David Ferrer was relentless in his 6-4, 6-3 win over Raemon Sluiter to reach the quarterfinals of the Heineken Open on Wednesday.

This marks the second time in as many appearances that the Spaniard has reached the final eight. In 2003, Ferrer defeated Olivier Rochus and Fernando Gonzalez before falling to Dominik Hrbaty in the quarterfinals. He will now play No. 6 seed Rochus, who overcame Jan Hernych 6-1, 7-5.

In the following match on centre court, No. 5 seed stopped Andy Murray in one of the most anticipated matches of the day. The Croat, recent winner of the Davis Cup, posted a 6-3, 7-6(4) victory to join the last eight in the field.

In other matches, 2004 Olympic Gold medalist Nicolas Massu and Florian Mayer booked their spot in the quartefinals with straight-set wins.

Chilean Massu confirmed his good form after upsetting Hrbaty in the first round by stopping Christophe Rochus in convincing fashion 6-4, 6-2 and will now face the winner of No. 7 seed Jarkko Nieminen and Paul Goldstein.

Mayer routed Robin Vik 6-2, 6-2 and awaits the winner of Alberto Martin and Stanislas Wawrinka.
